The Webmaster

Confused by Code was created and is maintained by The Webmaster, a man with very little programming experience, who nevertheless felt compelled to start a website about programming. Privacy Policy

I do not personally collect or store any visitor information.

However, you may have noticed ads on some pages. I use Google's AdSense service, and according to Google:

• Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to your website.
• Google's use of the DoubleClick cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to your users based on their visit to your sites and/or other sites on the Internet.
• Users may opt out of the use of the DoubleClick cookie for the interest-based advertising by visiting Ads Settings. (Alternatively, you can direct users to opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for interest based advertising by visiting aboutads.info.)

This means that Google and other advertisers will add a cookie to your browser to creepily - but perhaps conveniently - show you ads that are relevant to you. You can opt out by visiting the links in the block quote above. (Also, most browsers have an option to delete cookies.)
